About Me
Hi! My name is Isabel Parra, and I'm a Pacific Northwest native born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Political Science at the University of Oregon's School of Journalism and Communication. I'm passionate about creative storytelling in all its forms, whether through writing, photography, or digital design.
My love for writing began in high school when I joined my school newspaper. Working in a newsroom environment and collaborating with others sparked my interest in reporting and storytelling. Since then, I've gained experience writing for magazine-style publications across a range of topics, including arts and culture, sports, reporting, and interviews, through both academic coursework and past personal projects.
I also discovered a passion for visual storytelling after completing a Photography Trainee position through Parsons School of Design. This experience introduced me to both digital and analog photography, where I developed photo essays and expanded my creative perspective.
I’m eager to continue growing my storytelling skills across other areas of communication, including public relations, marketing, advertising, and social media.
Here, you’ll find a selection of my writing samples, photography essays, and other creative projects. Enjoy!
